Road blockade protest against quota system

The students of Gurudayal Government College blocked the road in Kishoreganj to demand the abolition of quota system in government jobs. They protested and held a rally at Gaurangabazar area of the district city yesterday afternoon. As they held this protest rally till 12 noon, traffic jam was created on the road. Earlier, a protest procession left the Gurudayal Government College campus and reached the campus through Municipal intersection, Akhabazar, Kachari Bazar, Battala and ended with a rally.
At that time, many people had banners and festoons in their hands. At that time, they kept chanting slogans like 'There is no room for discrimination in Bangabandhu's Bengal', no discrimination in the Bengal of seventy-one', 'Quota pratha nipat jak, Medhabira mukti pak' etc.
The demand of the students is to reinstate the circular of 2018. Subject to the circular being reinstated, the commission should be constituted and 'quota reforms' should be made as soon as possible by keeping a maximum quota of 10 percent in government jobs (class 1 to 4). If proper candidates will not be found in the quota, appointment will be made on the basis of merit to ensure a corruption-free, impartial and merit-based bureaucracy.
At that time, the protesting students said that the country became independent to get rid of discrimination. Ordinary students have woken up today so that there should be no more discrimination in independent Bengal. Many students in the country are currently suffering from the frustration of not getting a job. Meanwhile, ordinary students are being treated unfairly by maintaining quota jobs. Ordinary students are falling behind due to quota.
But quota holders are getting benefits. So they want to reform the existing quota system. Quota system in jobs is like poison for common students. After protesting on the road for about an hour, the students went to the campus and held a rally. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Mohammad Golam Mostafa said, the students moved away from the road after a while. The traffic on the road returned to normal soon.
